RNLI 200th Anniversary and Loch Ness RNLI’s 200km Ride

In early July 2024, Tina, Jimmy, Sarah, and Kara attended a remarkable event celebrating the 200th anniversary of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution). The celebration featured crew members signing a special scroll, which will travel to all RNLI stations across the UK, symbolising unity and commitment. As part of this significant occasion, the RNLI crew made a heartfelt pledge to continue their lifesaving mission with unwavering dedication and courage. Find out more and follow the scrolls journey.

We’re thrilled to highlight that one of our Directors, Aron, who is also a member of the RNLI crew, actively participated in the festivities. Aron took to the waters of Loch Ness for a live demonstration, exhibiting the vital skills and bravery required by the lifeboat team to ensure safety on the loch.

In honor of this milestone, the RNLI Loch Ness team is organising a 200km bike ride to celebrate the RNLI’s 200th anniversary. The ride is set for July 14th, starting and ending at the Loch Ness Hub in Drumnadrochit. The journey will take the participants through Cannich and Beauly, with stops at North Kessock and Invergordon RNLI stations for support and refreshments. The team anticipates the ride will take about 14 hours and will conclude with a celebratory drink at Fiddler’s Inn back in Drumnadrochit.

This event is not just about celebrating but also about raising funds to support the vital work of the RNLI. The team is encouraging donations through their Just Giving page, and any support is greatly appreciated.
