Glen Urquhart and Strathglass Heritage Trails Completed!
We are delighted to announce the completion of both the Glen Urquhart and Strathglass Heritage Trails, made possible by the pivotal contributions of the Strathglass Heritage Association and the Glen Urquhart Heritage Group. Their dedicated efforts, combined with funding from Soirbheas and Historic Environment Scotland, and the collaborative support of various landowners, community members, including local graphic designers, have brought these trails to life.
These trails celebrate the rich history of our areas with new signs marking significant locations and offering insights into the local heritage.
Strathglass Heritage Trail: The Strathglass Heritage Association has been instrumental in developing this trail. Their hard work has resulted in new signs installed at important sites such as the Chisholm Burial Ground and Guisachan House. For a comprehensive list of locations and to learn more about their contributions, visit the Strathglass Heritage Association’s website. Special thanks to Jim, Maeve, and Marjorie for their significant efforts in making this project a success.
Glen Urquhart Heritage Trail: In and around Drumnadrochit, new interpretation signs have been installed at key locations including Drumnadrochit Green, Blairbeg, and Corrimony. Developed in collaboration with the Glen Urquhart Heritage Group, these signs provide valuable insights into the area’s heritage. Special mention goes to Fiona, Heather, and Josie for their crucial contributions. A preview of the Glen Urquhart Heritage Trail is available on their website.
Heritage walk launch dates are set for September and October—stay tuned for specific dates and further details.
We look forward to seeing you on the trails!
