Seeking Lead Volunteer
for Drumnadrochit Community Larder
We are seeking a Lead Volunteer who will play a crucial role in coordinating our small team of community larder volunteers, ensuring that the larder remains accessible and well-stocked for all members of the community. This position involves managing volunteer rotas, monitoring and replenishing stock levels, and serving as a point of contact for volunteers. By overseeing volunteer rotas and stocking up the larder, the Lead Volunteer will help to maintain a reliable and supportive resource for those in need. The Lead Volunteer will work closely with Kara, Soirbheas’ Assistant Community Development Officer, who manages the community larder.
No prior experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and a passion for serving the community and promoting food security.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Rota:
- Every third week of the month, create the volunteer rota on Soirbheas’ Canva account, ensuring volunteer preferences are met.
- Amend rotas as needed to accommodate changing circumstances or weather events.
- Share rotas in Volunteer WhatsApp group.
Stock Replenishing:
- Be a stock storage key holder (stock storage is located in Drumnadrochit), and ensure the larder is adequately stocked with essential items 3 times per week.
- Communicate regularly with Kara to address any stock shortages or specific needs.
Volunteer Communication:
- Communicate regularly with volunteers in Volunteer WhatsApp group.
- Act as a liaison between volunteers and Kara to address any questions or concerns they may have.
All necessary training will be given in a supportive environment.
Time Commitment:
Hours are broken down into:
- Volunteer Rota = 2 hours per month
- Stock Management = 6 hours per month (1.5 hours per week)
- Communication = 4hrs per month (1hr per week)
Total time commitment = 12 hours per month
