Community Fund

New Grant for Groups

Soirbheas has allocated funds to address urgent community needs that have arisen as a direct result of Covid-19.

What can the funds be used for?

Funding of up to £1,000 per application/group is available to support services or issues of need that have directly resulted from the current Covid-19 outbreak and/or current restrictions. It is not intended to be used for any other purpose. The funds must benefit people who live within the Glen Urquhart or Strathglass Community Council area.

If your group or organisation has started to provide activities or services to support the community through the coming months or has an idea but is unable to source funding or support for example:

  • Care packages for those in isolation
  • Transport costs for those delivering essentials to people self-isolating in remote locations.
  • Technology or communications to keep people connected.
  • Increased demand on services or changes to how your group would normally work which has resulted in increased costs.

If you group or organisation had lost income or will struggle to cover unavoidable costs over the coming months, which are directly due to the current circumstance, for example:

  • Utilities or insurance costs
  • Loss of income from postponed or cancelled activities

Who can access the funds?

We are working in partnership with other organisations including the Community Council’s and Development Trusts and neighbouring groups, to ensure services and measures are put in place in a coordinated way, to support communities and individuals through this extremely challenging and uncertain time.

While we will be as flexible as possible, we are legally required to operate within our charitable purposes, this means groups receiving funds directly must be non-profit groups with a constitution and a bank account. Individuals can’t apply for funds. However, if you are not part of a group but have a great idea, then we can hopefully match you up with an existing group or work in partnership with you directly.
